G'day from Tassie
G'day all
I am totally new to woodwork (other than the compulsory high school classes). However, I just visited Strahan in Tassie on my honeymoon, and decided to buy some Huon Pine to make a coffee table. Not sure whether this is my smartest move ever - but am hoping that this forum (which I have looked at before for advice on polishing walnut pieces) may be able to see me in good stead.
I basically have a table top, some timber for legs, and some runners. I will post some pics and ask for advice in the appropriate section.
Many thanks in advance.
Moldy.

Welcome Moldy, that would be a lovely way to start woodwork with some Huon, although it
might be an idea to have a few practice runs on some scrap timber before you start on the Huon.
See you back here soon

You are lucky to live in Tassie where those beautiful timbers are readily available at reasonable cost. Won't be long and you will be hooked on this woodwork obsession. Take it slow and careful and enjoy the results.

Nice timber, look forward to seeing some pics of your project as you progress. Welcome aboard.
Reality is no background music.

Thanks all for the g'days. I have posted some pics of the timber, and a general description in the forum for larger projects (called Huon Pine Coffee Table).
I hope some of you might be able to jump in and offer advice as to dressing my new timber, and also some ideas for simple, but good looking, designs for an amateur.
