G.Day Mates From Waterlogged Brizzy
I'm wanting to know which is the best timber for a
good kitchen chopping board. I need a new one. One with a laminated top.All responses greatly acknowledged.

Welcome to the forum. Silky Oak comes to mind but I am sure others will have other idea.

The Chopping Board,
Hi Bluey2,
Do you mean a bit of Laminex on the top, or Gluing all pieces of board together.
I made our Kitchen one out of MDF which had a sheet of Laminex on the top.
I used a Wad Punch on a piece of Car Tube, & Glued 9 pieces of 16mm. to the bottom with C/A, to stop it from slipping all over the place.
I don't like corners, so I rounded them off. I also painted the edges & cut away finger holds as it is pretty heavy. It measures 750 x 530mm.
It is just about worn out now, after 5 yrs.& it cost nothing, as it was leftovers from a Kitchen Top making Business.

My wife just bought one last week made from bamboo, its stronger than standard timber so you don't cut into the board as easily & its looks really nice.
