Welcome to the forum. Silky Oak comes to mind but I am sure others will have other idea.

    Default The Chopping Board,

    Hi Bluey2,
Do you mean a bit of Laminex on the top, or Gluing all pieces of board together.

I made our Kitchen one out of MDF which had a sheet of Laminex on the top.
I used a Wad Punch on a piece of Car Tube, & Glued 9 pieces of 16mm. to the bottom with C/A, to stop it from slipping all over the place.
I don't like corners, so I rounded them off. I also painted the edges & cut away finger holds as it is pretty heavy. It measures 750 x 530mm.
It is just about worn out now, after 5 yrs.& it cost nothing, as it was leftovers from a Kitchen Top making Business.
    Hope this helps.
    Regards,
    issatree.

    Thumbs up

G'day Bluey2 and welcome to the forum.

Issatree's suggestion is about as good as it gets!

My wife just bought one last week made from bamboo, its stronger than standard timber so you don't cut into the board as easily & its looks really nice.
