G'day from Sydney
I don't have a lot of opportunity to use that greeting in real life...
Complete beginner wood carver, less than beginner. Trying to find the right tools and where to buy the wood. Apparently hardware shop is not the way to go, and every state in Australia has a 'craft council'. I have not been able to get a hold of this elusive organisation so in my desperation I have joined this place. Possibly no talent for woodwork, but I just to make some stuff.

Hi and welcome to the forum. I'm sure if you brows through the threads you will find a lot of the information you are after and if that fails strike up a thread and ask your questions. You will usualy get a lot of answers and then you just have to work out which ones you like. Anyway welcome and enjoy.

I posted something up anyway, but I'll go back and try to find the information. It would be great if there was an actual store or something that I can just go to.

McJings could be a very reasonably priced place to start if you are after carving tools etc
