    Default EEE gone hard

    G'day all
I have a tub of EEE-Ultrashine that has gone hard. Am wondering if it can be reconstituted for use. Any help would be much appreciated.

    Cheers

Have you tried giving it a good stir?

You can add a small amount of turps but it does degrade it or a short burst in the microwave might work but it is better to chuck it out and get a new one.

Depends on what grade of hard you are talking about.

    If rock hard throw out.

If still in a stiff paste then a really good stir will help and a couple of drops of shellawax no more and a good stir.

    DO NOT ADD SHELLAWAX!

If as already stated it's rock hard and crispy crunchy, throw it out.

If it's very thick and hard to use it can be melted in hot water or in the microwave on high with 10 second bursts till it melts. REMOVE LID, don't get it too hot, just melt it till it's runny then add some mineral turpentine and stir with a dowel or icy-pole stick etc (nothing metal) till cools enough to show a thickening wake behind the stick. If you don't do this then the abrasive will drop out of the mix.

    If there's half a tub add about 20 - 25% turps.

    Hope this helps

    Cheers - Neil

PS Don't get it so hot that it melts the plastic tub it's in or you won't be too popular.

Doh! There's always one isn't there Harry.

    Remove the lid before melting
or it may be blown off by the expanding air pressure or the jar may be blown apart for the same reason. Yucky mess may ensue. Massive explosion aside, how else are you going to see if it's melting or not.

Neil - can the same method (i.e. judicious microwaving) be applied to Trad Wax that has separated out a bit??
