Ply wood table top finish
My mate Richard and I have built a table for my large family. 9 of us altogether out of a standard sheet of 2400 x 1220 x 15mm CD ply. Nice face and I have stained it with a walnut stain to match the wifes latest purchase of 10 dining chairs. The finish on the chairs is almost satin polish not varnish (pictures when I can work out how to put up a picture). I am not sure that varnishing it with CFP is the way to go as it will make the chairs look dull (and I hate the look of anyway) but the chair wood is quite dark hence teh walnut stain.
So here is the problem.
Which finish would suit best?
Satin varnish?
Tung oil?
Danish oil?
The table is used on a daily basis both for meals and other activities like scrapbooking, sewing etc so teh finish needs to be reasonable tough or reasonably easy to refinish.
Absolute newby to this wood working.I make sawdust with powertools.

I have had succes with Danish Oil. I notice one of the counters of a large steel suppliers office is done this way, it cops a fair pounding, and they swear by it - only required a re-coat every few years
