    NotRalph,

I think you have tripped yourself up this time... or were you really looking for the sort of flippant, boorish answers like those above which now seem tragically to be the level to which this quizz thread has now degenerated?

Bums and farts....can you believe it???

I suspect that you were really looking for the meaning of the word Alburnum, which is the term given to sapwood, or the white pithy bit under the bark of a tree.

Speaking of white pithy bits, one of my favourite informative links related to woodwork and traditional methodology is the one to Alburnam's Archive, but I am not sure who Alburnam is.

    Yours very truly,
P (guardian of the sanctity of Quizz fora)

I suspect that when you are correcting somebody else, you should be extra careful you don't get the word wrong yourself - it's Alburnum.

    Thumbs up

Mr Midge, you seem to have hit the nail on the head! Therefore you get the NOD!

Whacko, that is a big one isn't it.

As for the spelling, according to my book of words it is ALBURNIUM so that is how I have spelt it. Should I be wrong then please accept my humblest apology!

I shall be away visiting the big city for a while so please carry on without me gentlepersons.
Long live the Real Ralph, long may he quiz us all, Amen.
