Definition:
1. A horizontal crosspiece across a window or separating a door from a window over it.
2. A window above a door and hinged to a transom
(Also called transom window or transom light; A window or pane above a door, whether rectangular or arched (fanlight); also, a window that is hinged along its top edge.
Rectangular transoms and side lights are found in Greek Revival, Neoclassical styles)
