Oil or Lacquer finish for desk
Im building a desk out of Victorian Ash with Jarrah for my HSC major work.
My I was intending on using Lacquer as a finish for the desk but today my friend suggested using a oil finish.
I would want to keep the timber still its natural colors.
thanks

Hi Joosh, Just about all oils will darken the colour of the timber. U-Beaut's shellac, both Hard and White won't darken the colour. You could also use Minwax Wipe on Poly, it comes in a clear gloss or clear satin.
Whatever finish you choose, try it on a test scrap piece first and then you'll get a good idea of how it looks on the timber.
cheers
