    Default Sheets/Rolls Adhesive Velcro Hook

Can someone point me to a supplier of rectangular sheets, or rolls, of adhesive-backed Velcro hook? Suitable for holding sandpaper at high speeds. In home use amounts... found one supplier in Sydney - rolls are 1.4 m wide by 25 m long - much too rich for this little camper.

About 5 years ago when I was looking, I ended up getting it from Canada. Not all that expensive but quite a lag in getting it. Surely someone in Oz has it now.

I still have a part roll without adhesive and am only interested in adhesive-backed.

Dunno if you have Spotlight up there, but they have it in small quantities.

That's 'down there' Watson, east coast of Tassie to be precise. Sorry to doubt you but it's a long trek to the major stores - does Spotlight actually have the high grade stuff? Sometimes they do surprise me with their stock.

Bunnings have the same craft size sheets as Spotlight (yes Watson we do have them here).

Also depending on your location you can try one of the forums sponsors The Sandpaper Man

There is a supplier at Minto will have to find there contact details for you I bought a sheet 1m x 350 for approx $50

One from Seven Hills name escapes me at the moment but they are also called Excalibur air tools.

The Sandpaper Man did come up during my original search, but I couldn't find what I wanted on his site. (Doesn't mean he doesn't have it.)

I may have to resort to Bunnings, Spotlight, et al (nothing against them as stores) but it could be a while before I can get there.

What I really want is an online supplier where I can order, pay and get it shipped without getting up. I don't know why woodworking is so different to other commodities - I could totally kit out a house online, but not my workshed. Go figure.

sorry about the "up - down" stuff.
I'll have a look at a few sites overnight and see if I can come up with something.

Gee... this has been a very productive thread.

Went back to the google machine and up popped an entry for The Sandpaper Man with 305 mm x 500 mm adhesive-backed hook for $23.27. And it's online order!

Don't know why I couldn't find it earlier, but then the mysterious ways of google have defeated me before.

Thanks to those who provided input. Hope others will benefit from the information.

    Default The Sticky Paper.

    Hi Woodwo,
If you have ever watched Richard Raffan, He wont have a bar of Velcro, as he uses straight sticky sandpaper.
Now there is a way of using this stuff, you have to get some Disc Cement & if you have 5 pieces, 4 of them stick back to back in 2's, as this Cement does not dry out & stays sticky all the time. If you want 1, then you just pull them apart. Might save some trouble.
You haven't said what size Disc's you are using
I know of some Woodies, who have those 9in / 230mm. Aluminum Plates on their Belt Sanders, & would not use anything else.
Raffan just stuck his 3in. to the Lathe, where the other came off. He said the Velcro did not stand up to the work he does.
    Regards,
    issatree.

    Hi Issatree

I really like Richard Raffin - as a wood turner. Wouldn't ask him for advice on plumbing, or on the design of my new sanding system.

I didn't mention what disc size I am using, because... I'm not using discs.

So what's this all about. Watch this space.
