Raised panel doors with hand tools
Don't get too excited. I completed this in December as part of the armoire. I have been chasing my tail to get the pictorials onto my website. This is another one now done, with several still to come.

Hope you find it interesting and useful.

Ciao Mr. Derek
,
my compliments for your useful tutorial.
I found interesting the jig for mitering the moulds. Is it a your self-made project? Have you some other pics?
I would like to ear your opinion about cutting mortises in the frame construction work.
Could be better to cut them before making grooves? I tried in this way and I found it could request less skills.
Thank you for showing your works.

Ciao Giuliano
The jig (guide) for paring the molding mitres is not original. Many others do it this way.
Regarding morticing the frame: my plough plane and mortice chisel are "slaved", that is, they are exactly the same size. In this case I used a 1/4" blade width for both. It is much easier to plough a groove and add the mortice, than the other way around. For one thing, the walls of the groove aid in defining the sides of the mortice.

Good stuff Derek. Really nice mix of how it's done and what you've done.

Inspirational stuff indeed. That level of precision with hand tools seems out of reach to me.
