I am not sure on what option I have to building a room under my deck in regards to needing foundations or who can advise a builder, concretor, or civil engineer.
I could either put up blueboard for the outerwalls or build brick veneer. I believe the first option I should be able to go ahead and do on a simple raft slab.
I poured an infill slab to flatten off an area of 100mm which you can see in the photo and need to build a min of 150mm above this for the whole area, it was a good idea at the time but now its a problem I either have to remove it to build a thickened edge or could I pour directly ontop of it? Alternatively I excavate a perimeter beam just inside the piers.
Depending on the option above who I need to certify the works?
I have been told either to excavate a perimeter beam and drill into the piers with Y bar and use trench mesh.
Or I could put plastic down and a min 20mm sand bed to allow for movement.
The most important question is should I remove the current concrete (about 50mm thick) or put fill down and pour ontop.
