Default is it wise to use steel wool between coats on Huon Pine?

Can anyone please advise if I should use steel wool between applying coats of oil?
    Thank you,

I don't use it between coats of oil, I just put one coat over the other. I only sand between coats of estapol or similar.

    Thank you,
What sort of oil. I apply danish oil with steel wool so can't see a problrm there.

Depends on what sort of a finish you are after. If you want high gloss then i'd stay away from steel wool. If you are after a warm soft finish use 0000.

    Cheers

    Default Finishing Huon Pine

    Hi Ipdulce,

Apply the secondary coatings of oil with a an abrasive cloth pad and you will kill two birds with one stone. The grey pad is about the right abrasive grade: it equates to close to 400 grit they tell me at the speciality paint shop in Hobart. I use it on turnings for applying hard burnishing oil and it works great for that.

    Cheers Old Pete
