years ago (1970's) we owned a 5 acre "country retreat" on top of a ridge south of Harcourt in Victoria - over the years we built a log cabin home with the best open fireplace you ever saw.

We sold it to fund a home purchase and left it at that. Left behind a lot of memories and fun time with the two oldest spending their early years there at weekends.

Now if the new owners had pulled it down and rebuilt I could understand , or if a bushfire ripped though and destroyed everything I could cope but on a recent trip to Victoria and a trip down the new Calder Freeway we couldn't find the property - turns out VicRoads purchased the property in the 1990's and removed the entire 5 acres to make a cutting right through the ridge from one side to the other to take the 4 lane freeway through.

Gone - totally - the whole property - hill and all - I feel violated
