Advice sought re cyrpus pine floor
G'day
I'm a newbie seeking info from all you timber knowledge holders!
We have put in a new cyprus floor in the hall.
We would like to stain it so that it has a nice reddish colour...when we look at colour charts, we always seem to pick the jarrah tones. (Why didn't we just put down jarrah?? Single income family with a huge mortgage doing our best, is probably the easiest answer.)
We would like it to have a sheen to it, but not that shiny shiny floor look.
Here's the catch...we don't want to use those stinky oil based products. We want to use water based.
But when we tell this to flooring people who come to quote, they scratch their heads and look confused. Have we asked for the impossible? One person recommended Porters Paints have a stain for floors, but I didn't like the colours and it looked more like paint than a stain.
Can any one recommend methods or products that will do the job for us, please? And we will instruct our people to do it.
Many thanks
Beck
