Default Sydney Tool Sale 2nd May 2010

The Traditional Tool Group in conducting the Annual tool Sale on 2nd May, here is the flyer:

As of mid-April there are 41 Tables booked, this is going to be a great tool sale.

    A few notes for attendees:

More details at The Traditional Tools Group (Inc.) -- Coming Events, where you can also download an application form if you wish to hire a Table and sell your surplus tools. Note if you intend selling, Tables are limited, 41 booked so far, and we do have more available, but there is often a rush for space in the last 2 weeks before the Sale.

The public entrance for Parking is off the Pacific Hway (the school runs between Jersey Rd and the Highway). There is plenty of room for parking on-site, there is one parking area right next to the Hall - early birds will walk around 5 metres, and the other area is around the corner of the adjacent building. If you are coming by train you can use either road entrance.

We will start taking money soon after 8.30 am, ready for the 9 am rush. While you are waiting, the canteen will be open from 8.30am and you can get breakfast if you wish. Fortunately the waiting area is under cover, so inclement weather will not be a major problem.

    The Map:

Look forward to seeing you there.

    Cheers
    Peter Evans

    Ray,

The access from the car park into the canteen and waiting area is flat. There may be one small - no problem - step into the canteen area, can't quite remember, but I will confirm this when I next visit the site. This area is large, so no crowding problems; depending on the number of tables hired there may be tool sellers in one part of this area (area is able to be split into two by sliding gates).

To get from the canteen area into the hall, there are around 3-5 steps leading to a single doorway. This is not very wide. There are no step free entrances, this is a 1960 built school, poorly "improved" over the years to make the hall suitable for Scout Shows. These improvements have destroyed the original almost flat entrance.

Inside the hall the tables will be on the flat, and there should be enough space in the aisles. For this sale no tools can be on the floor, this should make it easier for you.

Outside the hall, on the flat canteen area, there are male and female toilets, with from memory no steps. Toilets inside the hall - yes, there are steps; and these toilets will not be open to the public (poor access).

Later in the week I will be able to confirm what is possible, however those steps into the hall are likely to be a problem.

    Regards
    Peter

Default Disabled Access to Tool Sale

    Ray

After inspecting the Tool Sale site again, I can confirm there is disabled access. There will be one seller in a wheelchair as well, so you will not be alone.

    Process
    1. When you enter the school grounds from Pacific Hway, tell the parking attendant you are disabled, and he will direct you to the closest parking area, if you feel this is necessary. Parking areas are paved, the overflow however is grass, the attendant will ensure you are not directed to a grass area.

    2. At the entrance to the Tool Sale, the person taking the money, will organise for a TTTG person to escort you to the disabled access door on the other side of the building, (which is an emergency exit, so will be opened from the inside).

    3. When you wish to leave, the exit door can be opened for you. From there it is flat all the way to the car parking area.

    4. The sales will be in two areas -

    (1) the Hall, access as above;

    (2) a covered area between the canteen area(where you will pay the entry fee) and the Hall; access to this area is flat with no steps. You are probably better off starting here and then moving to the Hall. Also if you wish to patronise the canteen, you will need to do so from this area, rather than the Hall itself.

If you have any queries, let me know. I would hate you to miss out again. If you do come, please let us know how we can do it better from your perspective.

    Cheers
    Peter
