Refurbish Danish De Luxe
Good morning,
I thought I would quickly ask for some advice in regards to refurbishing the frames of my new acquired sofa set (I'm actually picking it up today). On the ebay advert they state the wood is rosewood. As I am new to restoration I wouldn't be able to to confirm this and was hoping someone could tell from the photo's they have supplied?
Any advise refurbishing the frames would be much appreciated eg. materials, steel wool, oils etc to purchase as I would like to start straight away if possible.
Thanking you in advance! - Kelly

I actually got the furniture and it appears there is some sort of coating on the wood. Is there a trial and method of removing this without harming the wood? I can take close up shots of the wood if required.

We had a Danish DeLux identical to the one you have, it was purchased new in about 1964?, only the one we had was made of Myrtle and stained to a golden colour. What you have would be Myrtle stained to a rosewood colour.
There would be some nice timber under that stain.
Sorry can't help any more. regards john.
