Pergola spans
Hi all just wondering where to get an accurate span table for a pergola ive come across a few on the net which most were all different.
The main thing i wanted to know was for the rafters coming off the house to the beam the single span is 4.2m if i space the rafters 900 apart could i get away with using 140x45 treated pine or would i have to use 190x45 ?
Thanks.

Get the book by Alan Staines:
The Australian Decks and Pergolas Construction Manual. ISBN 9781875217106
You can probably get this at Bunnings.Geoff

Never seen it at Bunnings but can vouch for it's usefulness. I got my copy from somewhere on the net ~$25 but I may have got a discount for buying a couple of his others at the same time.
From my reading of table 21 in the above book (note i can't read real well) you would need 170x45 for mgp10 pine.

Some span tables (pdf format) were recently posted on the renovate forums, sister site to this.
You may find what you need there. (I think there is a link in the left column of this site.
