Default 3m 7500 respirator filter for asbestos?

I plan on getting a 3m 7503 half faced respirator however a little confused with the filter I need to avoid issues with asbestos. Tried reading 3M's site but not much to go on specifically with filters for the 7 series and asbestos.

Can anyone give me a pointer to which filter I need. I see that 6001 is a common one but was thinking 6006 is better for a couple bucks more but unfortunately don't know enough to know whether it will be enough for asbestos.

    6006 details:
    3M 6006 MULTI CARTRIDGE FOR RESPIRATOR 6200 7502 1 PAIR

    6001 details:
    http://www.c2csafety.com/servlet/the...RTRIDGE/Detail

I assume if it can stop vapor it will stop absestos fibres but need to be sure..

    Cheers

I don't know about the 3M product but the sundstrom product you stack up the filters...geberaly you rin a particulate filter in the front of the stack, because the gass filters will clog rapily with particulate matter..the particulate filters are generaly much cheaper than the gas cartridges .

You will also fing more breathing effort is required when you hac=ve a gass filter mounted.

So it it is only dust you are worried about, a gass cartridge is not nesessary... just get the appropriate particulate filter.

    cheers

Abrasives can be just as dangerous as a blade.....and 10 times more painfull.

    DON'T TOUCH FRIABLE ASBESTOS.

Asbestos removal for fibro or bonded asbestos.
I always used packs of disposable P2 filters.
Bagged and thrown away every time they were taken off and a new one used on resumption of work. If you use the cartridge type you are faced with decontaminating measures after each use.
By all means use the mask you are talking about, but don't don't expect to use it for other stuff after, dispose of it.
Look at the Asbestos section on my site and if you have a fair bit to do then contact me there and I can let you have a 90 page PDF ebook that I wrote on the subject of asbestos removal but I never got around to making it public.
