ceiling span?
Hi, does anyone know what size beam i need to span a ceiling 7.4 metres wide? The ceiling is going inside my existing shed but will not actually be connected to the shed at all, it will sit on the wall frames i am currently building. The only weight the beam needs to hold is the plasterboard, insulation and lighting. Doesn't matter which way i span because the floor space is 7.4 m x 7.4 m. I'm thinking of using a 300mm x 63mm LVL ( is it enough? )but maybe a steel i beam would be better? any advice appreciated.
Cheers.
