How do I darken orangy pine veneer
My husband has bought a king size bed frame at auction for me (hmmm). Anyway, while I like the style, I am not keen on the pine coloured veneer. Is there a product that will darken the veneer (to anything other than orangy pine) - prefer darker, or chocolate brown colour, while still keeping the wood grain look?
Please advise, so I can make subtle suggestions to husband. Thanks!

First things first.. Welcome
Is the finish an actuall timber veneer? or is it a plastic laminate sheet product?
If it is a veneer you may have to strip the finish off before you can apply a darker stain.I try and do new things twice.. the first time to see if I can do it.. the second time to see if I like it

Welcome to the forum
Perhaps leaving it out in the sun without too much 'slip, slop, slap' on will tan it darker
Sorry, I really can't help as I have never been a fan of staining.....probably because I messed up the time I did try it. I am sure someone will come to the rescue.

One thing to consider is a spray toner, followed up with a clear finish such as polyurethane or lacquer. These spray toners take some practice, but are great for this sort of thing.
