Taking a break from woodworking, and thanks

Friends,

Due mainly to work pressure, we have decided to downsize to an apartment. I'm selling my table saw, band saw, and some other equipment on ebay at the moment. (tex81a)

I should say that this is not bad news for me. I'm still happily married, still employed, and love my work. But lately I've only been able to spend a few hours a month in the shop, and I'm unlikely to even have that time over the next couple of years.

The plan is to continue to do a bit of woodwork with hand tools, which I expect to be able to do in the garage without complaint from the neighbours. I won't be able to finish there because of the odours, but I'm unlikely to be actually completing anything anyway.

Hopefully in two or three years my workload will shift and we'll move back to a place with a workshop. If all goes well, I'll be able to replace the equipment with better (and more expensive) stuff. Looking forward to that.

This provides me with a great opportunity to say thanks to the many members of this forum who have given me so much help and encouragement (and even greenies) over the last few years. The quality of my output improved dramatically after finding this forum in 2005, and that is a direct result of the amazing knowledge sharing that goes on here daily. Thanks is a pathetically small word for what I'd like to convey, but hopefully you all understand.

Best wishes for the next few years

don't even think of becoming discouraged.
One of the dads at my son's primary school built 4 plywood (stitch & glue) kayaks whilst he lived in a North Shore unit, and a dining table and several chairs whilst he lived in an appartment in London.

Finishing is just a matter of choosing the right product and working at the right time.
AND disposing of oil contaminated rags properly.

Take it easy Tex and enjoy the break from the tools - as you say bigger and better later on - even though you love your job don't work so hard in the job that pays the bills that the family or your interests get left behind.
