God versus the Devil in Haiti
You think you've heard every kind of stupidity but there's always another one to to be amazed at.
American evangelist, Pat Robertson, one time presidential candidate, says the people of Haiti are to blame for the earthquake because they signed a pact with the devil to get out from under French rule!
Presumably he means that god caused the earthquake to punish them.
Logically (if such a word can be used in this context) it must follow that anyone helping the victims is interfering with god's will.
It certainly puts our worries about spelling and grammar into context.

Religious extremist's of all persuasions should be locked up with each other to debate their own beliefs
, while the rest of the world can live in relative peace and harmony.

I'm rather with Wonga about "this lady fixing everything", from what we are being told but she was a great Australian, working all her life to give some education to poor children, being ex-communicated by a ****** bishop and then being re-instated.

Someone is trying to cash in on the fact that Mary MacKillop once lived in the house they are trying to sell !! Obviously the entire house now has magical healing qualities....

I remember similar comments being made by the same character about the Pakistan earthquake. The tragedy is that the one he professes to follow taught love and compassion. Throwing the first stone is a famous teaching that comes to mind.
Im issuing an open challenge to all business owners to donate one days takings to relief efforts. We donated yesterdays takings to UNICEF."We must never become callous. I wonder what is Pastor Robertson's view of the earthquakes that the good ol' USA has suffered? Should I also throw in bush fire and tornadoes for good measure?
Reminds me of a hymn from my childhood
All good things around us
Are sent from Heaven above
So thank the Lord, Oh thank the Lord
For all his love.
Interesting that the good Pastor does not see earthquakes as the work of Satan. After all it is said "The Devil looks after his own".

In Atafona, where we were living in Brasil, the ocean has wiped out about 5or 6 streets of substantial houses since 1969. The sand dunes are also marching over parts of the town.
Funny thing is people used to just accept this. However since the crusading, evangelical churches from the States have gained a foothold in the region every thing has become a matter of God punishing the people for God only knows what.
The hardworking, but poor and good people must wonder what they have done to deserve this double whammy.
