    Default Can this be fixed?

    Happy new year to all,

This lawnmower was left outside and the damage (rusty corner) is evident in the photos. Do you think it can be repaired and if so, how? I thought some sort of metal strip or a sheet metal splint and then bodyfiller applied to close gap.

Other alternative, I can get a chassis from a neighbour, it looks identical in everyway except it might be a couple of cm shorter in length.

    What would you do?

(only half joking too but that's not a discussion for this thread )

First step - price a new one. Unless you don't mind rebuilding this becoming a 'project' (ie, time and cost doesn't really matter coz you're doing it for the fun of it), make sure you know what the cost benefit is to you.

As for repairs or a new chassis, I really wouldn't have a clue though the new chassis seems like the easier option. You might have fun getting bits off.

    Substitute JB Weld for bodyfiller.

From the sounds of the poor thing, he'd been trying to repair it and had only just got it going ... sort of ... and never really managed the trick, but it was a tad bizarre (it only lasted about 5 mins so it's grounds for a funny story rather than grounds for complaint )
