Default Woodworking classes? - finishing mainly

    Hey all,

My wife was asking me pretty directly, questions about different woodworking classes available to do around us. I have inquired about some in the past but she came right out that her and my parents would like to pay for one as a birthday present. I would really like to do one on finishing. There are so many different methods as you would all know and many are quite difficult to teach yourself the unique little tricks. Is there anything in particular that anyone can think of around Newcastle/Sydney/NSW within several hours that would be helpful and interesting? It is always best to ask someone in the know then to pay good money and dive into the unknown.

    Thanks,

    Ash

Sorry I can't offer an answer, Ash, but it is certainly a wonderful gift if it comes off.

    No problem Soth.

It would be great if I can find a good one. It'll be something I will forever use for the rest of my life and towards my new business I am trying to kick off.

    Nice pressy Ash,
I'd recommend one of Neil Scobie's classes, he's just north of Coffs Harbour but well worth the drive. one of the best IMO

what if the hokey pokey is really what it's all about?

Ah ok, I haven't seen his classes before. I will definitely look into it.

Do you know how long they normally are?

    Thanks for your help

Finishing? Nothing fancy about finishing. Rough sand. Slop on some paint. Once the boat's twenty feet from the shore, no-one will notice ... oh hang on, you were talking about furniture weren't you

Just had a look at their website. I recognised some of his work I have seen in a local gallery. They only state 5 day or weekend courses so I will enquire further about more details.

    Thanks again for the tip.

    Cheers!
