Adding Joists/Studs to existing wall
Hey all. As i'm in the process of replastering a few rooms in my Victorian Weatherboard house I made a nice discovery of a single layer of bricks from an old chimney breast in the middle of a stud wall. Scary thing is the brick was floating and not supporter - thanks restumpers! The bricks were in the middle third of a room measuring around 3.5m x 3.5m.
The help I need is suggestions if it's possible/recommended to sister up the floor bearer so I can add a bottom plate which will form the new middle section stud wall from floor to ceiling. Its a non load bearing wall and the ceiling joists and existing studs either side of where the chimney breast stood are structurally sound.
Pictures attached - Pic "Wall 1" is a wide view showing the gap/board. Pic "Wall 2" shows from eye view alongside the floor.
Thanks guys, happy new year !
