I am building my first brick garage. I have embedded hoop iron strapping into the courses for tie-down of the top plates (on the double-brick sections) and the pitching beam (on the single-brick section with engaged piers).

When I attach the hoop iron to the timber, is it necessary to fold it right over and dyna-bolt it into the brick face below? Or is it sufficient to just nail the hoop iron to the timber? (I would prefer the hoop iron to not be visible when I am finished as it is quite unsightly)

Thanks,

Zac
