Bob, How did you go with your SP2 installation? I have downloaded it from Microsoft twice and all my programs got bitter and twisted (some programs would "hang" half way through opening and my documents would not open at all) so uninstalled. Ordered the CD from MS, disabled my antivirus, and installed again, same problem. Can you, or someone else on this forum, throw some light on what might be happening? I want to protect my comp, but SP2 won't play the game!!

Hi
I installed sp2 also, what a piece of .
I uninstalled it 2 days later.
Then spent the next week fixing all the corrupt files I was left with.
Good one MS.

Well I'm confused. I've installed it and things are going well. I do seem to remember some stuff happening better but I can't remember what. Mind you, I've got Micro$oft's update turned on and tend to grab everything that comes through. Dunno why, some pointless insecurity no doubt (part of my decline in decrepitude and senility - it'll end when I buy a computer named after a plastic raincoat [that one's for midge]).
You aren't letting the fox terriers drip pancake batter into the keyboard are you?

I ordered the disk as I was not keen on the idea of a 2 hour download. It arrived safely, and free, and I have installed it on 2 computers.
No problems at all and both run like clocks.
Be sure to disable your virus scan and internet security programmes before installing any software. The only time I have ever had a problem with newly installed stuff was when I forgot to disable Nortons.
It only takes one drink to get me loaded. Trouble is, I can't remember if it's the thirteenth or fourteenth.

Yes, I disabled those before I downloaded from the CD, must admit I didn't when from MS site. And have received all the previous critical updates on offer. I don't seem to be having any problems without it (except from one emailer whose message goes direct to the deleted items bin - perhaps that's all it's worth , and probably has nil to do with SP2 anyway). My concern is that without it, I may not be able to download any future critical updates. Yes/No?
Richard - it's an upmarket Foxy, a Labradoodle, and the keyboard is sticky with maple syrup
BM - you haven't got one of those other ...... no, course you wouldn't!
