    Default G'day all

I've just joined the forum with a bit of hope that you people who are experienced with wood, can give me a little guidance, and a good slap when required

I have not had a lot to do with wood work, always prefered metal, because a "Opps " can always be repaired with more weld and a grinder

I bought a Vintage caravan to fix up and tow behind a Jaguar 420G that I restored.

The Arrow Royal was made in Brisbane (Aspley) in 1958, as a bondwood caravan, then a few years later, covered in aluminium cladding.

I have decided to go back to the wood bits (Looks a lot better) and rebuild it.
There is a fair degree of wood rot in the floor though a missing roof hatch, but the most of it is fine.
Some of you may appreciate the craftsmanship of the interior.
I'm guessing that the cupboards were made by an Italian Craftsman.
They are beautifully made using (I believe) silver ash, and every door has a "Roman Numeral" stamped on it, to correspond with the cupboard.

My Brother is a furniture builder who lives up the road at the back of Cooroy (Carters Ridge). He is sanding and spraying (Polishing he calls it) the doors, etc.

This is one he has done.

I have had a couple of...er troubles with cutting off outside pannels and trying to repattern with a pencil and jigsaw!

Today I was told I should use the old pannel and a router over a new sheet of ply! I had never thought of that!

I have most of the power tools to do the job, collected over the last 40 odd years.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated

Pictures of the Caravan can be seen here.

    Thumbs up

G´day Ron and welcome to the house of fun. Good to see you.

Why, I ask myself, do people punish them selves with resoration?

    Because it´supposed to be fun!!

Quite a task you´ve taken on, but it will be very stisfying to see it finished and hooked up to the Jag.

Lots to learn here and no doubt with your expeiences while doing these restorationjs you will be able to terach the other members a bit. Have fun

    No, not at all.
Trevor is not really into computers at this stage, but he is getting there.
