It would be good if people who have not logged in within the last two years, have their accounts deleted.
This would free up names for new members (had a friend join recently and he had to make up a convoluted name just to to join), and it would allow a more accurate reflection how many members are active.

Hate to burst anyone's bubble here but we passed 50,000 quite some time ago. Our latest member's number is 55341
We keep on deleting the deadwood and spammers from time to time and the real figure of people who have registered is actually closer to 60,000 as not only do we cull members from time to time but also deny membership to a lot who are known spammers, etc.
OOPS! Another 660 just disappeared. We're now pretty well up to date. No one with zero posts or no other activity for 2 years and registered after Jan 1st 2005. Might cull some more in another few months.
Figures can be pretty misleading sometimes.
Renovate Forum recently deleted some 22,000+ members ie everyone who hadn't visited there since the forums were split from here. They now have over 8,000 members.

My bubble has burst.
Here I was ready to break open a can of Diet Coke and
blowing up the balloons.
Thanks Neil - you have now put everything in perspective.

Oh well, back to the drudgery. Still I think the number we should be celebrating is that most of the time when I am on the forum, there are more or less, a thousand others on at the same time! That doesn't happen on any other forum I'm on. Except facebook, and none of them are really my friends. SWMBO still counts John Howard as a friend. Anyway, that's a good indication that they are finding useful information here. Well done everyone!
Or, we could celebrate that I passed 1000 posts without noticing.Cheers, Richard
