, fair enough.
The difference between the 650cc four and my 250cc two stroke was more than I had expected. Bloody power all the way through the rev range so little throttle adjustments (at low revs) make the bike slow down or speed up (duh). On the RZ if you dump or drop the throttle at low revs and nothing much happened.
But jeez the bigger bike felt good on the highway, .Mick

wow, I'm impressed.
It's power is limited but I accidentally hit about 120 in an 80 zone without thinking about it. So it goes alright, 300km on it, so I should read the manual about running it in and will do that now. I'm stoked with it.Mick

Bent it! Bugger!
at least I'm not really hurt.
(we bent the left bar up to try and ride it home, but the forks were bent so no suspension. and no electrics,Mick

I tried to plug the usb into my head put it wouldn't fit. I am lucky and thankful that I was wearing boot, jeans, jacket, gloves and a helmet. Thanks mate,
They weren't padded quite enough on the hips or shoulders, and here I was trying to reduce the padding that was already there
I tried to take the corner, but when I realised I couldn't, I broke, bike stood up and I think, I'll just run it off into the paddock. (thank god, no trees) but hit the batter to a table drain, and slammed down sideways.
The other blokes came back and after deciding it wasn't rideable, started lambasting me for not crashing where there was some shade.Mick

Mick with bikes like that Leathers is best or like SIL & daughter they have jeans which are special made padded and extra thick.
That extra padding is possibly what stood the bike up loose mass free floating causing an inertia effect.

bikes stand up when you are applying the front brake arond corners. You still have forward momentum from yourself and most of the bike, but the wheels are reisting that, so it leans back up. back brake back brake may have helped but I'm a novice road bike rider and the panic reaction caused me to grab the front brake.
I was just going too fast on a road I didn't know, it's a mistake I wil never make again.

When I learnt to ride back brake was first and foremost until they started fitting disc brakes to the front Now even back then riders of the day still used back brakes first then front.
Thats progress for you.
My 2 boys and daughter have all been through riding school here in Sydney on bikes that still had drum front brakes , all asked same question "what good was that" of the instructors as once they buy their own bike it will have disc. I believe now they have standardised.

Bummer Mick. Hope your bruises heal quickly.
New bike is a danger time for offs I'm afraid, as is keeping up with the mates.
+ you prob don't want to hear this now but most riders give up before their bikes do in that situation.
If you lean more and brake less, plus add a little bit of rear brake to stabilise the bike in the first part of the turn, you'd be surprised what you can do. Also bear in mind that if the tyres hadn't been scubbed in you would've be down on traction.Cheers, Ern

Thanks Wongo. Cheers Ern, as a novice to sports riding I am a little uncomfortable leaning over too far. I reckon the blokes in front and the lad behind, would've pulled through it without too much drama.
But the lesson has been learned.
Corner speed to my capabilities for the geometry, and if you can't see the road in front of you, assume it ends.Mick

GT650 has been resurrected. I'm a little more circumspect this time though.
For the price of the excess, I got a bike with 12 months rego when I only had 2 left, and a brand new shark helmet.Mick
