    Default G'day all

I'm Jack, I live in Melbourne's S/E suburb, I've been in the engineering field for the last 30 odd years but I always had the passion to work with wood, as far as I can remember. So now I've got the chance to take up my passion and started to to buy some equipment and tools, some thru ebay. I'm looking foreward in attending TAFE short courses in woodworking, I've got the passion but the skills need working on, and some advice from you lot.

    Great to be on board
    Jack

G'day Jack. Welcome to probably the most informative wood working website available. Have you decided what area of wood work you might do (turning/furniture/boat building, etc.) ? Do you have a camera? We all like to see what members are making.

    G'day Masoth,

Thanks, information I certainly will be seeking. I would like to start with small pieces of furniture and making use of dovetails and routing and yes I do have a camera but I haven't started on anything just as yet, I'm still setting myself with the proper tools and equipment.

Welcome Jack. Gifkins will go well with the router table. I too was from an engineering background and had to learn that micrometer methods of sizing metal weren't applicable to the interesting antics of wooden workpieces.
