    Default Drum Finish

    Hi,

I just finished an Aztec drum which is going to get plenty of use and abuse. I was thinking of using Danish Oil, (first time to use the stuff), would this be suitable?
    Thanks

    what's an Aztec drum

basically a wooden box with a series of holes and cuts hit with a drum stick to produce a drum like sound. Hope that make sense. The link is version one which has way too many mistakes, and will be salvaged for another use.

Awesome gary. I started to make 2 drums recently, one with 6 and one with 12 notes. They never got finished coz I didnt have the tools or the knowhow to finish and tune them. They have pine sides/bottom and jarrah tops.

Are you are familiar with Ben Harpers song "Blessed to be a witness", coz I modeled my 12 note drum on that. I found out that he had it custom made to some wierd tuning that is chorded and ....... over my head anyway. The other drum is simple and untuned so you can just bash away.

Kind of hard to get things done when you live in a unit. I created all sorts of mess chiseling out and sanding a didgeridoo in my living room after work. I have no idea how im gonna seal/finish it when I read words on a label like "...apply in a well ventilated area.." hmmmm

Harry, I would say the page has been deleted. It is an external link. Gary has not been in the forum since 3/6/04.
