Painting PVC edging tape
I have some white PVC edging tape to go on a plywood bookshelf.
Q1. Can this be painted over with water based paint?
Q2. Can anyone please advise if this PVC edging can be put on over a painted surface? It is the type that glues to the surface, and is applied with a hot iron
regards,
Jill

Q1. Can this be painted over with water based paint? Yes, but not very well. Similar to painting any melamine or plastic finish...it won't adhere well without suitable primers and surface prep.

Hot melt glue will stick to paint, but I can't say what the temperature required to get the glue to melt will do to the paint.
You'd be better off using a glued on strip of timber to hide the exposed edge of the ply.
