Tandoori Oven
Hi everyone
I'm new to the forum and was looking for some advice about making a tandoori oven.
I think I have the concept down and understand it after reading quite a few blogs people made on how they made their tandoori ovens. I am planning to make the tandoori oven from an existing clay pot surrounded by a firebrick wall as close as possible withthe gaps filled with Perlite/vermiculite.
The difference with the one I want to make is that I want to put it on a trolley so that it's portable. I have a 300kg weight rated industrial type trolley already. I was thinking of first laying a platform of firebricks down, topping that with an insulating blanket and then building a second platform on top of that which would house the tandoori oven.
What I wanted to find out was, could I go for a cheaper option such as using a 1m x 1m fireblanket such as a Quell brand one as an insulating blanket in between the 2 layers of firebricks or would I need to get a more expensive blanket like a ceramic fibre one?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks
Al
