Existing Electrical In New/Old Home??
Just moved into a home that's about 14 years old and would like some comments about a couple of things. Or 3.
The meter box has,
3 x 16amp RCD's - Marked Power Points
1 x 20amp RCD - Marked Air Con
2 x 10amp RCD's - Marked Lighting
1 x Main Switch
1 x 40amp RCD - This seams to work on all the power circuits, but not lights or Garage
1 x 63amp Circuit Breaker - Marked Garage Power
In the Garage there is a Sub Board with about 10mm 2 core & earth entering it.
This board has,
3 x 16amp RCD's - Marked Power Points
2 x 10amp RCD's - Marked Lights
1 x 20amp RCD - Marked 15amp Power
1 x 63amp Circuit Breaker - Marked Main
First question, can these 63amp CB's be used as a Main Switch?
Secondly, Is it OK for the power point power on the main switch board to be running through two RCD's, as in 40amp RCD and the 16amp RCD?
Thirdly, the garage (tin) doesn't appear to have an earth rod, the nearest one is about 12 meters away under the main switch board. Is this normal, or would an extra earth rod be of benefit near the sub board?
I have checked all the power points with one of those testers, and everything appears to be in order.
Appreciate any help, thank you.
