First time bathroom reno?
I'm about to embark on my first bathroom reno in a 1950's house with double brick internal walls, all with 10-12mm (1/2" ?) cement render over the bricks. The bathroom walls are currently tiled so once I remove the old tiles (with a balster & hammer I assume) & the lino tiles & old cement sheet from the floor, can anyone give me a basic step by step guide as to how to proceed form there? I intend to tile the floor & walls up to about shoulder height & install a new shower base/screen & vanity/bench unit & sink. The plumbing doesn't need to be moved, it's mostly water proofing & pre-tiling prep over the exposed render that I'm unsure about. I know there are a lot of posts about bathroom waterproofing but I haven't read anything to do with cement rendered walls yet. Do I have to line the rendered walls with WP boarding first or can I just apply waterproofing product to the render, then tile adhesive over that? I assume one installs cabinetry first & tiles around it?
Cheers!
