Polished floor - doesn't look right??
Hi All,
After much reading and talking to the bloke at our local renovators store, I decided to have a crack at doing the floors in our newly created nursery.
I'm pretty handy and have demolished my downstairs and built s flat which came up brilliantly, had done the demo and fitout of the nursery and it came up great too but the floor has me perplexed.
I'm not too sure what timber it is (if it matters I can take pics) but the finish I have achieved isn't equal to the picture in my mind before starting.
The room is quite small, approx 3x3 and I spent quite a bit of time in prepping it. First 40grit, then 60grit, then 80grit, then 120grit. I spent ages finishing off with an orbital to remove any swirl marks and it looked perfect before applying product.
I did my first coat with Cabots Water Based CFP, let it dry and went over the room with 180grit on the orbital. All came up nice and smooth and I gave it a good vacuum. Then I hit it 3 times with the Cabots but noticed along the way that it was looking like I had applied it with a brush instead of the lambswool applicator I had actually used.
I convinced myself that as each coat went on, it would flatten out but it hasn't.
Any ideas on what I have missed or how I can get it toward that glassy finish I had planned for would be great.
Thanks in advance, Scott
