prime before plaster?
My 1920's house has ceiling with textured plaster over very old lath & plaster. Seems like the texture was added within the last 20 years. A few sections of the textured plaster is starting to fall - but the orginal Lath & plaster is ok. I took down the loose texture plaster and am ready to add new plaster to match the texture.
Before I do that I'd like to know if there is any prep-work needed to the old plaster before I add the new? The old is very smooth and it doesnt look like it was primed before the texture was added.
Should I prime the old plaster before I add the new plaster? Are there any tricks to making sure the new plaster integrates with the old?
Thanks, Ken
