Hey all,

I'm just about up to the stage where I need to install some new 19mm blackbutt solid hardwood timber floors using a secret nailer. I have removed all the old timber floors and rebuilt a new subfloor using LVLs. I have never installed floorboards before, but I would like to give it a go.

Looking at online reference manuals e.g. Boral there seem to be varying opinions about how to secure the first and last sheets close to the wall where the secret nailer cannot get into. Some references say you have to top nail the first and last 2 sheets, whilst others mention you can pre drill and nail into the tongue at 45deg for these sheets in combination with glue. Can anyone with abit of experience in the area shed some light on the matter. I would prefer not to top nail if i can.

Also is it ok to secret nail 130mm wide boards (in combination with glue)?

Cheers.
