Dear Fellow members

We have got this old fibro home which was damaged by water and humidity as it was locked for over a year. The result being the paint was flaking on the walls and ceiling otherwise they are in good shape. We have removed the flaking paint - now we are kind of back to bare fibrous board on most of the area and there are some cracks visible and at some places a hair like structure. The surface is uneven too !
We have done anything with the cornices and left them as it is now.

We would like to get the surface to a even shape and ready to paint. Can someone please advise us what compound and process we should be using? Also, is it something that can be done by a amateur like me?

Really appreciate your help.

regards
