    Default Sam Maloof Rubbing Question

Hey all, i just finished applying the first coat of Maloof finish to some Tiger Myrtle (frame for a box)

I want to make the wood just a tad lighter and make the wood grain a bit more refined before applying the second coat, will rubbing the first coat with a clean cloth achieve this?

    Hope that made sense

The mix i used is the Tung oil, Boiled Linseed Oil and Poly

This is a myrtle benchtop that's had a
couple of coats of the same mix, the oils
have darkened the timber but the grain
and texture is still quite evident.

they're not the greatest pics with the flash
but the finish has darkened the lighter shades
to a browny color. the final coat will have beeswax
and buffed to a shine and i expect will look quite
    good despite the darkening.
    cheers

I've applied this mix in 5+ coats (1 coat per day with a good rub down with a flannelet shirt between each coat) without much appreciable color changes from the first coat. Following coats merely heightened the level of gloss. This was on Tas Oak, Blackwood & myrtle
