Default Subscribed Threads - no emails?

    Hey All,

Just over the last couple of days, a number of threads that I've subscribed to with a 'instant automatic email' option when the thread has been updated hasn't been working and I haven't got any emails. Just curious if anyone else is having any of these problems....or whether it is just me It does seem sporadic - sometimes I get some emails, other times nothing.

    Cheers,

    WILL

    Hi there

    Two things i'd check are;

    1) Your spam filter (pc and mail server)
    2) Are you revisiting the site? If you don't revisit, you will only get a subscription email on the first reply. This aviods people who lose interest in the site from being bombed with emails they dont want.

    regards

thanks for the info Steven. It's probably just me then haha. Though I'm sure I've got multiple notifications for some threads when I still haven't visited the website? Again, probably just me not taking much notice.

    Cheers,

    WILL

I'm experiencing the same problem now that you mention it. Used to work, now not.

    hi there

Goto your usercp and then to the List subscriptions link. This page will show a list of your subscriptions and and notification type. they should be instant, daily or weekly.

yeah mine are all set to instant. No worries on this end, it seems to be going ok now, but yeah, was a little sporadic for a couple of days.

I noticed the default thread subscription was set to: do not subscribe.

I've updated it to instant subscription.

As I never subscribe to threads but use the "New Post" search and rely on my memory of interesting threads I've had to reset it to Do not subscribe.

When you say you've updated it to instant, is this for everyone? As I don't think it has ever been set as instant, that is up to the individual to do that if they so desire isn't it?

Like Sturdee, I have mine set to Do Not Subscribe and manually subscribe to threads that I am only interested in.

Edit: Ok, I've just checked mine and found it was set to Instant, so I had to change it back to Do Not,otherwise my box would get flooded

Yeah I don't reckon this is the way to go as generally everyone would want to control their subscriptions based on threads they are interested in.

Have asked Admin to change it back to Do Not Subscribe, in the meantime you can change it via your User CP via the Edit Options then scroll down to Default Thread Subscription Mode and select the option that you want from the dropdown box.

You can also Subscribe to threads individually by Clicking on the Thread Tools located at the top of each thread you visit and selecting Subscribe to this Thread
    Cheers

    Hi

Goto your userCP and then to Edit Options

About half way down the page you will see an options called Default Thread Subscription Mode. The option you select here will always be your default setting.
