Base coat 60
Yesterday I used some base coat 60 from a bag I've had open maybe 12mnths and it went off in about 10-15 minutes. Is it usual for the set time to decrease as it ages? Sure makes plastering interesting though!
I mixed it with clean water on an offcut of cement sheet.
Cheers

Same thing has happened with my BC 60, opened 3 months ago. It was fresh stuff from the local Boral distributor.
Suspect that all the rain/humidity in last 2-3 months has affected it. Will be buying a new bag soon and keeping it sealed in a 20kg plastic bucket with lid.
Sure does keep you hopping when applying the 10 minute stuff!Traba non folis arborem aestima

Several issues here.
Yes base coat does go off quicker with age.
Mixing on cement sheet will also speed it up or two reason the method of mixing and contamination from the cement sheet.
To counteract use citric acid or lemen juice to make it last longer. Milk also works if desperate, best not to use milk due to fats in milk.
