Killer diahorrea
A well known, but anonymous woodie contracted
a dose of killer diahorrea and subsequently expired
from the disease.
The local doctor who had been treating him, found
that the widow had been telling people her husband
had died of gonorrhoea.
When they next met, the doctor corrected the widow
and asked why she had been spreading the wrong
story.
"Well," said the widow, "I know he died of diahorrea
but I would rather he be remembered for being the
great lover that he wasn't than for being the
big sh*t that he was."

IIRC, in the earlier version (ca. 1965), the "doctor" was the man's daughter, and the "great lover" was a "sportsman."
