    Default Carba-tec Service

    I bought a new Spindle Moulder, Thicknesser and some smaller items from Carba-tec. When they arrived I pulled the packaging of the Thicknesser and put it together with no problems. As soon as I went to take the packaging of the Spindle Moulder I realized they had sent me the wrong machine.

    Biggest problem was that I live 300km away from Perth.(Oh No!!)
    When I contacted Carba-tec and explained the problem I though I would have to send the wrong machine back and wait for the correct moulder to arrive but no. Geoff from Carba-tec jumped in the ute with the new machine and drove all the way to Bridgetown and swaped the Spindle Moulders over and drove all the way back to Perth again.

    Now thats what I call service. Mistakes happen but what a company does to rectify a problem makes them stand out from the rest.

    Yes, Carbatec WA seems to be 'King' of the WA woodworking tool suppliers , and seem to garner more praise than any of the other Cartatec franchises - its just a pity that shipping stops me from buying there

    I have used CarbatecWA since they were Woodstock in Balcatta Road and can't fault them. All the staff are friendly and helpful and any issues I have had have been resolved without fuss.

    It doesn't surprise me that they made good the problem with your Spindle Moulder for these reasons and because it is a nice drive down your way.

    We need to support these specialist sellers if we want to be able to buy more than an Ozito orbital sander. Has anybody else noticed the shift in the type of stock Bunnings are holding. I went in a couple of weeks ago to buy a tap (threading) and was told they are not a fast moving item and they no longer stock them. I had a look around in the tool section and could not see a quality band name power tool on display. Not a rant just an observation.

    A lot of those big hardware stores are turning into variations of Department stores, soft furnishings and pots plant tubs seem to dominate the stores. And what about trying to talk to someone who knows anything about what they are selling???

    On the bright side maybe we might see a return of the suburban hardware store. They are creating a niche market by reducing their range of hardware items in favour of outdoor and soft furnishings.

    I don't expect any advice from Bunnings.

    We live in hope.

    Our local Mitre10 started life as one of those hardware shops that sold tools and nails and building supplies. Then they became a Home hardware and started stocking jugs and irons and coffee makers. Now they are a Mitre10 and you have to crawl over the outdoor settings and barbecues to get to the tiny nuts and bolts section down in the far corner of the building.

    They had a "Mammoth Tool Sale" last week. I went in to have a look and it consisted of a couple of tables of $2 quality 'Medallist' brand tools.
