A very cranky Mrs Wongo
We thought it was appropriate to celebrate Australian Day with a good Chinese meal.
So we went and we ate. If you’ve been to a Chinese restaurant before then would probably notice some tables get complimentary soup before the meal and fruit after the meal but some tables don’t.
We knew that some Chinese restaurants do serve free soup and fruit but some only offer it to the Chinese. In our case we usually have to ask or we get nothing. This time I was kind of angry because I am sick and tired of asking. I had a go at the waiter briefly and let it go quietly. However, my wife wanted to make a big deal out of it this time.
She went over to the manager. “Excuse me; I think your service is appalling. You discriminate against Australian. It is wrong and we will never come again.” And people were starring and everything.
She was cranky, ever my MIL said she has never seen her so angry like that. Well she is married to me and the mother of my children after all.
So you know what to do next time you see the next table are happily enjoying their soup and fruit.
Cheers

News to me, is this a Chinese New Year thing or is it meant to happen all the time? Closest I have seen to a free fruit in the local Chinese restaurants is a bowl of plastic fruit on the front counter

Hi Wongo
I think this just about says it all;
In our case we usually have to ask or we get nothing. This time I was kind of angry because I am sick and tired of asking
I would not have bothered going back in the first place.......Crap service is not race specific and I think aussies are much worse in general.
Vote with your fleet.
cheers

Mrs Wongo definitely did the right thing in complaining, if the boot was on the other foot they would be the first to complain.

Only complain about the service and the food after you have had your meal.
Serving staff and the kitchen staff WILL do nasty things to your food, including spitting in it, stirring your drinks with their willie etc.
This really happens.Photo Gallery

It's not worth the fuss in my opinion. If at first you don't succeed, give something else a go. Life is far too short to waste time trying.

Me and the LOML and the MIL went out to a Japanese and Korean (strange combo I know) restaurant last night.
We were chuffed to be given a complimentary plate of palate cleaning fruit.
I've never had this in a Chinese restaurant.
Until today, I didn't even know I was being snubbed.
It's probably my fault for being a gwai lo.
(actually when you look up rude in the dictionary it says - see Chinese waiter)
