skimming top coat over paint ?
I am currently putting a new finish to an old fire place. The wall is rendered brick which then has a layer of plaster and about 5 coats of old really old stubbern paint.I have tried my best to remove these layers of paint in hope of applying a new top coat of plaster, though much to my dismay have had varied patchy results on different parts of the wall.My question is ,Is it okay to apply a finishing coat of plaster over this old paint which I hope to sand back to a even finish? ANY REPLYS WOULD BE MUCH APRECIATED. :?
