    Default Sway backed roof

Hi All and Happy New Year,

A query - our roof has a bit a sway back in one half - above a cathedral type ceiling . I would like to have it looked at to determine if anything is seriously going wrong.

Could some one please advise me on who to call (which type of trade/profession or even a contact if you have one)? I had thought of contacting Archicentre for an intial assessment. I presume it will require some of the roofing iron to be removed and refitted.

We are based in Fitzroy Melb.

    Cheers
    Mikey

In Qld, I'd be getting in someone licensed to inspect finished buildings. These are usually prepurchase inspections. Most are licensed builders and will crawl into/under/around buildings to inspect. In your case probably lift a few sheets etc. Otherwise get a builder or carpenter to lift a few sheets and do a dimensioned drawing and take a few photos of what's holding your ridge up. You might then need to compare this to the plans that were submitted to council and then see an engineer about possible fixes.

Thanks for the advice. I will contact Archicentre as a starting point.
