Merbau Gates
Happy New year to all.............
The current project is merbau gates (70 x 19) onto 30 x 30 gal tubing
will run horizontal on gates
question is both look and functionality...........
propose to use 10g 40mm zinc conuntersunk tek screws to fasten merbau to gates
is one screw in centre of deck ample (will to bow at edges) or do I need to use two screws to hold down??
want to do it right...........
thanks all

Hi Bomb and Forum,
Neighbour and I are going to rebuild our fence with combination of limestone blocks in piers and timber, maybe merabu as the slats in the same size as decking boards.
Has anyone had expereince with Merabu for use outdoors in the full weather?
Heaps of Jarrah over here however tends to get out of shape over time.
Cheers..>DC

you are right, jarrah does get the twists......
told that merbau is much more stable and very suitable for outdoors like fences/gates etc
I have just completed the gates and covered in Cabots Natural Oil - Merbau Colour to give good weather protection, especially on the ends.
you redo every 18 months or so - very easy to apply, wash up/clean up with turps
has also really bought up the colour of the merbau and if I say so myself, looks real good......
